SnowOps is built on MapLibre GL Native and PostGIS — a GPU-accelerated, royalty-free mapping stack with no Mapbox licensing. Vector tiles stream from your own database; you own the styling, the data, and the road network.

MapLibre GL Native — the open Mapbox fork

MapLibre is the community-maintained successor to Mapbox GL after its license change. SnowOps uses the native renderer for smooth pan, zoom, and rotate across Android, iOS, and Windows — with offline map support for when the cell tower is the first thing to go down in a storm.

  • PostGIS + PG_TileServ / PG_FeatureServ

    Spatial data lives in PostGIS. PG_TileServ serves MVT vector tiles; PG_FeatureServ serves queryable feature layers over OGC API Features.

  • Interactive GeoJSON

    Draw and upload features, set placemarks and spatial bookmarks, and customize icons for vehicles, incidents, and POIs.

  • Royalty-free, no vendor lock-in

    No Mapbox licensing, no per-tile fees. The entire mapping stack is open source.

GeoLibre — SnowOps' map client

A plugin-based GeoLibre GIS client powers both the public React+MapLibre map and the staff mapping tools, with optional bridges to ArcGIS, weather radar, and more.
